The Gemini app for Android has unveiled a true black dark theme on its homepage, enhancing visuals for OLED devices. The update, rolled out on 2025-11-15, introduces additional features aimed at improving user experience.
Visual and Functional Changes
The new design offers a true black theme on the homepage, which benefits OLED and AMOLED devices by saving battery usage and improving low-light visibility. This theme is currently limited to the homepage, with a potential full app rollout in future updates.
Along with visual changes, the update integrates "My Stuff", a new navigation-drawer hub, allowing users to manage their last three generated images, videos, or Canvas works seamlessly.
Enhanced User Experience
Improving upon the previous design, suggestion chips are now vertically aligned, and labels have been updated for clarity to read "Write anything" and "Build an idea". Conversation management has also been enhanced: users now have a "New Chat" button instead of the account switcher. Tapping a conversation name now offers options to share, pin, rename, or delete threads for smoother interaction.
