Google has announced a new design for its song search feature on Android, offering a reimagined interface akin to its Gemini style. This update refines the user experience with a more intuitive design language.
Updated Interface Details
The redesigned UI places a prominent emphasis on the 'G' logo and integrates the question prompt into the transcript. An arc that responds to speech replaces the previous compact waveform. Additionally, the 'search a song' prompt now suggests users “Play, Sing, Hum” at the center of the interface, moving away from the prior circular orb design.
This new layout aligns with Google’s recent Material 3 Expressive visuals, creating a unified and seamless interaction across Android systems. A noteworthy change is the replacement of the active-microphone 'ping' sound with the voice search tone from AI Mode.
Rolling Out Across Platforms
The refreshed song search interface is being gradually introduced to Android and iOS users. Reports on social media platforms indicate that users are beginning to see the updates as they become available. This phased rollout allows Google to track and address any usability issues effectively.
The overarching goal is not only to enhance visual consistency but also to provide a more inviting and engaging user experience when searching for music.
