Google Play Store Adds XR App Section

13 Nov 2025

Google Play Store has introduced a dedicated section for XR apps and games, extending its support for XR features on Android devices.

New XR Features

In the latest update, Google Play Store adds an XR headset chip icon in the device compatibility carousel. This allows users to easily see which apps are compatible with XR headsets, like those from Samsung and Valve. The change appears below the install button, giving access to XR-specific screenshots and reviews.

Improved Discoverability

The Games and Apps tabs now feature an "XR headsets" section under Other devices. This new section highlights applications designed for or compatible with XR headsets, aiming to enhance discoverability and encourage usage of XR apps on Android devices.

The update is part of Google's efforts to promote XR technology and enhance app visibility on its platform.
