Google is testing an Incognito feature called 'History Off Search' in its Android app. This mode, spotted in a beta build, allows users to initiate private searches directly from the search box. Enabling the toggle opens results in a new Chrome custom tab in Incognito mode, providing a seamless private search experience.
Android vs. iOS Private Mode
While the Android update introduces a straightforward toggle for Incognito mode, Google's iOS app retains an advantage. On iOS, users can access Incognito via a tap-and-hold avatar gesture, highlighting a more intuitive user experience.
Live Search and AI Mode Enhancements
Alongside History Off Search, Google is also testing a Plus button feature. This function within the search box allows users to activate Live Search and AI Mode, with options to attach images from Gallery or Camera. This feature could streamline search processes by providing dynamic, image-based searching capabilities.
The inclusion of these features was revealed through an APK teardown, noting that availability and final deployment remain uncertain as they may never reach public release.
