Google Removes GameSnacks from Android Auto

10 Oct 2025

Google is discontinuing the GameSnacks feature from Android Auto, aligning with its effort to enhance safety by minimizing distractions. Previously, GameSnacks offered users a collection of simple HTML5 games designed to be played when parked.

Changes in Android Auto

GameSnacks, introduced in 2021, was accessible through the Android Auto interface and featured various puzzle, racing, and logic games. However, users recently reported the games disappearing from the menu, despite attempts to reinstall the app. Updates rendered this workaround ineffective, as the games failed to relaunch even when vehicles were parked.

Google's ongoing efforts to simplify Android Auto's interface include updates to call management and other functions, emphasizing safety and ease of use.

Strategic Focus

While Google has not officially confirmed the reasons or schedules for the removal of GameSnacks, the change suggests a strategic focus on core functionalities, enhancing user safety. This move signals Google's potential shift towards featuring entertainment options more aligned with the Android Automotive OS, although no definitive plans have been announced.

For the majority of drivers, the removal of GameSnacks is a minor adjustment, reflecting a broader strategy to prioritize stability and user safety over lightweight gaming.
