The MLB App has launched for Android XR, offering fans a highly immersive extended-reality baseball experience and live MLB.TV streaming.
Advanced Visualization Features
The app's Gameday3D feature uses Statcast tracking data to provide 3D visualizations of plays in a virtual ballpark setting. Fans can observe home-run paths, pitch locations on a 3D strike zone, and player movements with detailed data including pitch type, velocity, exit velocity, launch angle, and home run distance. This occurs alongside the MLB.TV video stream.
Enhanced Multiview and Spatial Highlights
Multiview allows users to watch up to five live games simultaneously, with one game featured prominently and additional games arranged around it. Users can still access real-time tracking visualizations for the main game. Additionally, the app includes spatial video highlights, which transform plays into interactive 3D clips viewable in a carousel on the home screen.
Availability and Requirements
The MLB App for Android XR offers lifelike stadium environments, detailed statistics driven by Statcast, more camera views, a movable broadcast screen, and expandable live stats. Available now on the Google Play Store, the app requires an Android XR-compatible headset and an MLB.TV subscription to stream live games.
