Gemini App Introduces New Tools Menu for User Convenience

16 Sep 2025

The Gemini app for Android and iOS has introduced a thoughtful redesign, aiming to enhance user experience through a streamlined and intuitive interface. This update focuses on the app’s prompt bar and suggestions, unveiling a chic 'Tools' menu to replace the previous standalone chips and the three-dot button that once resided next to Gemini's plus menu.

Enhanced User Interface

The new Tools menu unfolds into a compact sheet, free from icons or descriptions, maintaining a minimalist aesthetic. By tapping this menu, users receive a tactile haptic vibration, adding a layer of interactivity and tactile feedback. The menu integrates various innovative options such as Create Videos with Veo, Create Images, Deep Research, Canvas, and Guided Learning, ultimately reducing unnecessary screen clutter and diminishing the chance of accidental taps.

This redesign on mobile devices not only achieves a cleaner look but also harmonizes with Google's broader visual language. A consistent prompt bar style is being tested to align with Search's AI Mode, eliminating the rounded rectangle for a more cohesive interface across platforms.

Creative Suggestions at Your Fingertips

Gemini's update also brings a renewed focus on creativity by introducing suggested prompts for various actions like Create Image, Write, Build, Deep Research, and Create Video. These suggestions now appear beneath the 'Hello' greeting on the app’s main interface, making creative suggestions more immediately visible. As users engage with these prompts, they can see four recommended options which dynamically adapt or disappear while typing, allowing for an interactive and user-focused experience.

This update initially appeared for beta users but has since been made widely available in the stable Google app on both Android and iOS devices. This marks a significant step toward making the Gemini app not just a tool for productivity, but a platform that inspires creativity and streamlined efficiency.

With these thoughtful upgrades, users are invited to explore Gemini’s new toolset, leveraging its redesigned interface to better navigate tasks and foster innovative outcomes. The update exemplifies a balance between simplification and functionality, promising a crafted experience for all its users.
