AdGuard DNS enables DNS-level protection by providing support for DNS over HTTPS, DNS over TLS, and DNS over QUIC. The app integrates with Apple's native DNS settings on iOS. Users can set up the app easily by linking their devices through a Setup ID or a QR code available from an AdGuard account dashboard. This ID system facilitates configuration for multiple devices, ideal for families or small teams.
User Experience and Protocols
According to Andrey Meshkov, CTO of AdGuard, the new app allows users to quickly enable strong, private DNS in seconds. The app employs local VPN profiles if a VPN protocol is selected, guiding users through necessary configuration steps.
Future Plans and Focus
This initial release focuses solely on DNS protection without other privacy tools. AdGuard plans to enhance the app with additional features and is working on a desktop version. The app is well-suited for users who want straightforward, secure DNS filtering on their mobile devices.
