On 2025-12-08, Samsung's Galaxy XR launched two significant features: PC Connect for Windows integration and Google Likeness avatars. These updates aim to enhance user experience on Android XR.
Improved Windows Integration
PC Connect links a Windows computer to an Android XR device, displaying desktop or window applications alongside native apps from Google Play. It ensures full resolution and high frame rates over Wi-Fi. Input bridging allows a keyboard and mouse to control both the computer and the headset. Currently available in beta, this feature uses low-latency streaming from Google's Stadia, allowing games to run on headsets with external controllers.
Introduction of Likeness Avatars
Complementing Samsung's avatars, Google's Likeness feature creates digital avatars from users' phones. These avatars mirror facial expressions and hand gestures in real time, enhancing personal interaction. Likeness is also available in beta starting today.
What’s Next
While users can explore PC Connect in beta now, support for Mac is expected next year. The introduction of Likeness offers a personalized interaction option, setting a new standard for avatars in mobile gaming and communication.
