The Google app for Android is rolling out an updated Voice Search interface featuring several enhancements in user interaction.
Interface Enhancements
The redesign introduces a semicircle listening indicator that reacts to detected audio, enhancing the visual cue for users. Additionally, the 'Search a song' button is noticeably larger. Upon activation, a page displays 'Play/Sing/Hum' instructions with the same semicircle indicator at the bottom. This update aligns with Google's recent AI initiatives, such as Search Live and AI Mode.
Availability and Rollout
The update is launching gradually, starting with selected users. It is not yet accessible to all, including certain beta testers. The rollout, initiated in September, can be triggered from the microphone icon in the Google app, the Search widget, or the home screen search bar. Alongside, Google is experimenting with AI-driven changes to Search, although permanency isn't confirmed.
Additional Features
An updated activation sound now mirrors the one from Search Live, providing a cohesive experience across Google’s search interfaces.
