Google is set to enhance Google Wallet on Android by introducing new features for improved digital payment tracking. An update to Google Play Services will include a transactions page showing purchases across devices and online, using virtual card numbers.
New Features and Integration
The updated Google Wallet will mirror the web view experience to offer users a comprehensive transaction history without needing to open Chrome or any financial apps. This feature aggregates data from other devices and purchases, including those using Wear OS, into one convenient location.
Additionally, users will benefit from a search function allowing them to filter transactions by amount, merchant, or date. Although these features were identified in the Play Services code, they have not yet been officially released.
Contextual Enhancements
Beyond visibility, Google Wallet has incorporated new suggestions for context-aware lock screen passes triggered by location, as well as Live Updates for travel-related details for planes and trains. This integration aims to surface relevant information efficiently for users on the move.
Overall, these updates reflect Google’s drive to make digital payments more accessible and manageable for Android users.
