Microsoft has released an update to its Phone Link, enhancing the Link to Windows Android app. This update enables Android users to remotely lock their Windows 11 PCs, along with several other features. The roll-out is set to benefit all Phone Link users as of now.
New Functionalities Unveiled
The updated Link to Windows app features a new "Lock PC" button, providing a quick and secure way to lock a connected Windows 11 system. The addition of one-touch screen mirroring enhances user convenience by allowing Android devices to project their screens onto PCs seamlessly.
Further improvements include the capability to transfer files between devices and cross-device clipboard sharing, making it easier for users to share images and text. An activity panel now displays recently shared files and links, offering quick access to ongoing tasks.
Device Monitoring and Compatibility
Alongside functional enhancements, the app now displays the PC's battery level and Wi‑Fi signal strength, updating roughly every minute. This feature keeps users informed of their PC's status in real time.
To take advantage of these new features, users should ensure that the Link to Windows app is updated via their Android device. These features require the Phone Link on Windows 11. For updates, navigate to Settings > Advanced features > Link to Windows, and check updates under 'About Link to Windows' on your phone.
