Google has announced a significant update to its app store policies, which could lead to the removal of thousands of apps from the Google Play Store next month. By the end of next month, apps that are "designed to do nothing" or "have no function" will no longer be permitted on the Play Store. Additionally, apps that fail to install or load, as well as those that freeze or crash, will also be banned. Google stated, "We’re updating the Spam and Minimum Functionality policy to ensure apps meet uplifted standards for the Play catalog and engage users through quality functionality and content user experiences." The tech giant is raising the bar on app functionality, aiming to provide users with a more stable, engaging, and responsive experience.

While these changes are intended to improve the overall quality of apps on the Play Store, they may result in a significant reduction in the number of available apps.
