Samsung Expands Live Translate to Third-Party Android Apps

09 Jun 2024

Samsung made waves earlier this year with the launch of its AI-centric Galaxy S24 series, featuring a range of innovative Galaxy AI features. One standout feature, Live Translate, allows users to translate phone calls in real-time directly on their phones, breaking down language barriers effortlessly.

Expanding Live Translate to Third-Party Apps

In a recent blog post titled ‘human-centric’ AI, Samsung’s Won-Joon Choi announced plans to extend the Live Translate feature to third-party Android apps. Currently limited to Samsung’s Phone app for calls made through cellular carriers, Live Translate will soon be available for use in popular apps like WhatsApp, Google Meet, KakaoTalk, and Telegram.

“Soon, Samsung is extending the power of Galaxy AI beyond Samsung’s own native calling app by expanding Live Translate to other third-party message apps to support voice calls. So you can stay in contact with friends or colleagues, communicating on your favorite apps in multiple languages.”

While Samsung has not provided a specific timeline for the rollout of Live Translate to third-party apps, the company has hinted that the feature could be available soon. Additionally, Samsung plans to optimize Galaxy AI features for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6, set to be unveiled at the second Unpacked event in July in Paris.
