Emulator Performance Boosts Steam Titles Compatibility with Snapdragon Chips

16 Jun 2024

One of the standout features of Mobox is its ability to run the Steam client, a significant upgrade over its competitor, Winlator. While Winlator restricts users to DRM-free GOG games, Mobox opens up a world of possibilities by allowing users to run apps available on Steam. This feature alone makes the effort of setting up Steam worthwhile. If Steam is your platform of choice, then Mobox is the only way to legitimately run Steam titles on your Android device.

Surprisingly Incredible Performance

Before using Mobox, I was skeptical about the rumors surrounding the emulator’s superior performance. However, my doubts were quickly dispelled once I installed Mobox and ran Crysis at 1024×768 resolution without tweaking any other settings. Within seconds, I was greeted by the main menu, a stark contrast to the minute-long load times experienced with Winlator.

After adjusting most of the graphical options to low, I observed that the game ran at a stable 28-30FPS, with only occasional lag when too many enemies appeared. For comparison, Winlator struggled to run Crysis at 800×600 30FPS and was plagued by graphical bugs and frequent FPS drops.

Better Compatibility with Newer Snapdragon Chips

Snapdragon’s mobile chips are at the pinnacle of the Android ecosystem, making smartphones powered by these processors a top recommendation for gamers. Unfortunately, Winlator is currently incompatible with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processors. The only way to get Windows titles to boot on these chips is by installing additional third-party mods, which often result in reduced performance and frequent crashes.

Fortunately, Mobox is compatible with most of the latest Snapdragon processors, including the state-of-the-art Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processors. So, if you own a high-end gaming phone equipped with these chips, Mobox ensures a crash-free experience when emulating Windows titles.

In summary, Mobox not only excels in emulator performance but also offers seamless compatibility with Snapdragon chips, making it an excellent choice for running Steam titles on Android devices. Whether you're a casual gamer or a hardcore enthusiast, Mobox provides a robust and reliable solution for your gaming needs.
