Tinkoff Launches Financial Messenger, Expands Ecosystem Capabilities

19 Aug 2024

Russian banking group Tinkoff has unveiled an innovative monetary messenger, seamlessly integrated into its mobile app. Initially exclusive to users of the Tinkoff super app, this financial messenger is poised for a broader rollout across the Tinkoff ecosystem, including applications such as Tinkoff Investments, Tinkoff Business, Tinkoff Mobile, and Tinkoff Junior.

In a significant development, Tinkoff is set to be acquired by the Russian technology giant Yandex for a substantial $5.5 billion, marking a pivotal moment in the company’s evolution.

Features of the New Financial Messenger

With the new messenger, Tinkoff clients will enjoy a host of features designed to enhance their financial interactions. They will be able to:

  • Share movie tickets purchased through the super app or from movie profile pages.
  • Share bookings and restaurant profile pages.
  • Split bills, request funds from other users, and share transaction details effortlessly.
  • Utilize the Tinkoff Travel chatbot to search for airplane tickets and monitor price fluctuations.
  • Create group chats for collaborative discussions.
  • Record, send, and instantly convert voice messages to text using Tinkoff’s proprietary VoiceKit speech technology.
  • Edit and delete messages, archive chats, and forward messages to other conversations.
  • Search for messages using keywords.
  • Send video files, branded Tinkoff stickers, and Tinkoff Stories.

Strategic Vision

Stanislav Bliznyuk, Senior VP and Business Development Director, emphasized the significance of this launch, stating, “Tinkoff Messenger is more than your run-of-the-mill messaging app launched by a major tech player. This is a financial messenger that was well overdue to complement our extensive financial and lifestyle service offering and a long-awaited solution for our customers.”

He further elaborated on the unique capabilities of the messenger, noting that it combines the functionalities of a standard messaging app—such as voice messages and stickers—with features tailored for financial transactions, which are typically unavailable outside banking applications.

Bliznyuk highlighted the messenger's role as a vital link within the Tinkoff ecosystem, enhancing user experience by providing quick access to a diverse range of services. As the ecosystem continues to expand with new offerings emerging rapidly, the potential for integrating and leveraging the financial messenger appears boundless.
