Google Maps Adds ETA Feature on Home Screen

17 Oct 2025

Google Maps has introduced a new feature where users can view their estimated travel time home directly from the main screen of the app. This change eliminates the need to tap the Home button and initiate a route preview or navigation. An estimated time of arrival (ETA) will be displayed within the Home button located below the search bar, streamlining the commuting process.

Enhanced Navigation Display

In a move to improve user convenience, Google Maps has implemented a color-coded travel duration indicator. This feature uses green, yellow, and red colors to denote traffic conditions, making it simple for users to see their ETA and plan accordingly. This enhancement, which was first noticed by a user on Discord, is designed to facilitate quicker travel planning.

Expected Rollout Timing

The new feature is anticipated to become available to more users in the coming days. This update reflects Google’s ongoing efforts to optimize navigation efficiency and provide users with more intuitive travel tools.
