The feature, announced on 2025-11-10, is rolling out globally for both Free and Premium Spotify accounts. This mirrors Spotify's sharing capabilities on Instagram and Facebook, enhancing content reach across platforms. Shared items in Status show title and cover art, with an "Open in Spotify" link to access content via the Spotify app or web client.
Technical Integration
This new integration offers a short audio preview in WhatsApp Status, aimed at broadening the audience for shared audio content. Spotify's new functionality is accessible through the Share menu within the Spotify app, allowing users to broadcast their favorite tracks or audio content to multiple contacts at once. Individual chat sharing on WhatsApp remains unchanged.
