In the Czech Republic, Sbazar.cz, a prominent classifieds site, has launched a new in-app messenger and mobile application to enhance user security and experience. This move addresses the platform's vulnerability to sophisticated scams that exploit traditional email communication.
Enhanced Security and Communication
With the introduction of Sbazar Messenger, all user communications are contained within the platform, reducing exposure to phishing and fake emails. The change aims at tackling increasingly sophisticated fraud attempts that previously targeted users with external fake communications. Jakub Rybár, Sbazar.cz product manager, noted an increasing trend of deceptive interactions now written in flawless Czech, making detection more challenging.
Sbazar.cz currently blocks 50–100 suspicious accounts monthly, highlighting the scale of the issue. The integration of Sbazar Messenger is designed to mitigate such risks more effectively.
Mobile Application Overhaul
The new mobile app signifies a significant shift for Sbazar.cz, replacing a decade-old version. The app integrates Sbazar Messenger and supports full account management, listing creation, editing, and push notifications for user messages and responses. This update reflects the growing trend of mobile usage, which now accounts for over 50% of the site's traffic.
Market Position and Traffic
In terms of traffic, Sbazar.cz ranks third among Czech Republic's general classified sites. In October, the platform recorded 3.4 million visits compared to Bazos.cz's 16.8 million and Aukro.cz's 6.7 million. This strategic update could enhance its market position by improving user experience and security.
