Google Translate has introduced a model picker feature on its iOS app, allowing users to choose between 'Fast' and 'Advanced' translation models for typed text.
New Model Features
The model picker is designed to let users select a translation quality based on speed or accuracy. The 'Fast' model caters to quick translations, while the 'Advanced' model offers higher accuracy for complex texts. The default setting is 'Advanced'.
Currently, the model picker is available only for typed text translation requests. Other translation features, such as live voice translation, remain unaffected.
Current Availability
The feature was first reported by 9to5Google and is currently visible in the iOS app. However, it has not rolled out to all users yet and supports only selected languages in the 'Advanced' mode.
Google notes that the model switcher appears as a pill under the Google Translate logo, enabling users to easily switch between models as needed.
