iOS26 Bug Turns Android Photos Red in iPhone App

15 Dec 2025

An unusual issue has emerged for iOS26 users, where photos saved from Android devices display an intense red filter in the iPhone Photos app. This occurs when photos are opened and zoomed in, while thumbnail previews remain unaffected.

Camera Color Issue

The problem appears to originate from the Photos app misinterpreting embedded color data, making it believe a filter should be applied. Although the phenomenon is not widespread, it has been mainly reported with images transferred from non-Apple smartphones.

Fortunately, this bug does not lead to irreversible data loss. Users can restore the original colors by opening the affected photo, and then tapping Edit followed by Revert.

User Experience and Feedback

The impact of this bug, although limited, suggests challenges in cross-platform compatibility for color management. The situation pressures Apple to address discrepancies between Android and iOS image handling.

Monitoring feedback will be essential to understanding the scope and urgency of potential corrections for a future update. The company has yet to announce a timeline for any fix.
