The Cycle: Prospect Island is the result of creative experimentation by a small group of Yager developers, many of whom were not directly involved with The Cycle: Frontier. According to Yager, “This was not a big project within the studio, but the result is definitely something that you should check out.”
Launched on September 19, 2024, this project is not alone in the Fortnite universe. Yager has hinted at another intriguing fan-driven initiative that aims to bring a fresh take on the extraction shooter genre, inspired by The Cycle: Frontier. “We are also aware of a pretty interesting looking UEFN fan project from some seasoned Prospectors, who want to bring their own vision of an extraction shooter to life,” the company noted. Enthusiasts can look forward to updates as this fan project progresses towards a playable state.
For dedicated fans of the original game, Yager has left a tantalizing hint regarding the potential return of The Cycle: Frontier. “We are well aware that some of you are still yearning to get back to Prospect Station and Fortuna III. As usual in the world of gaming, never say never; who knows if the future will bring a return to Fortuna III at some point in time?”
