The Halloween event is centered around the familiar Rift Champion "boss bubble" world events, now with a red-sky variation. Despite its intention to enhance the festive atmosphere, the new offerings appear modest. Two items, the Murmur assault rifle and the Skully grenade, debut in the event, but both have been described as underwhelming by players. Specifically, users have reported potential bugs with the Skully grenade.
Unlike previous versions, this event does not require participation for unlocking festive customization rewards, which are available from alternative sources. This approach, coupled with the event's limited offerings, signals a potential misstep when compared to Borderlands 3's more substantial Bloody Harvest event, which brought a unique haunted area and new challenges.
Post-Launch Roadmap Concerns
Fans remain cautious about future content and DLC prospects. The upcoming Bounty Pack 1, titled "How Rush Saved Mercenary Day," is drawing skepticism for appearing to be a meager addition that some argue should be included as a free update. Despite assurances of upcoming updates featuring an Invincible boss, additional UVHM rank, new legendary weapons, and Pearlescent rarity gear, there is concern that the post-launch roadmap might fall short for a game with an otherwise solid base game offering.
