Apex Legends has unveiled the Bird of Prey, a special R99 variant, in its Mixtape Supersonic event. This version comes fully equipped with gold attachments and fires homing missiles after a sustained lock-on.

The Bird of Prey introduces five homing missiles after locking onto an opponent, adding an extra layer of chaos to the Mixtape mode. While these missiles don't always hit, their success rate surpasses expectations, making them a formidable addition. Players can enjoy multiple missile volleys per match due to instant respawns in Mixtape, allowing quick re-equipping.

Limitation in Competitive Modes

The weapon is restricted to casual modes, excluding ranked matches and the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS). This suggests developer intent to maintain it as a unique element of Mixtape, enhancing its reputation for fun, unorthodox loadouts without affecting competitive balance.
