Microsoft has officially launched Windows 11 26H1 on 2026-02-10, targeting PCs equipped with Snapdragon X2 processors. This release is a hardware-optimized update, focusing on enhancing performance and power efficiency for next-generation silicon.
Supported Processors
The update is compatible only with select Snapdragon X2 processors, specifically the Snapdragon X2 Plus (X2P), Snapdragon X2 Elite (X2E), and Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme (X2E). PCs with older Snapdragon Copilot+ processors are not eligible for this upgrade. Microsoft has emphasized that 26H1 is tailored to these newer CPUs, potentially improving performance, power consumption, and battery life.
Support Cycle and Future Plans
For Enterprise and Education editions, support for Windows 11 26H1 will continue until 2029-03-13, while Home and Pro editions are supported until 2028-03-14. Windows 11 SE is excluded from this update, with 24H2 being its last supported version. Microsoft plans to transition both 26H1 and the upcoming 26H2 to version 27H2 in the latter half of 2027.
Upgrade Paths and Comparisons
Windows 11 26H1 does not offer major improvements over version 25H2 or the forthcoming 26H2, which will be available to all devices. Current Windows 11 25H2 users will continue to receive regular security and quality updates. All upgrade paths to 26H1 are closed, reinforcing its exclusivity to Snapdragon X2-equipped devices.
