Microsoft has launched Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26300.7877, introducing several enhancements to the Dev Channel for users in the United States.
Context Menu and Settings Improvements
The latest build updates the context menu for .exe, .bat, and .cmd files, aligning the "Open" verb icon with the file's default app. Additionally, the Device info Card in Settings Home has been refined to present key device specifications more clearly, enhancing consistency from the Home Card to Settings > System > About. This update is currently available to consumers, while an enterprise version remains for IT-managed devices.
Taskbar and File Explorer Enhancements
Improvements to the taskbar include enhanced hover animations for app groups and increased reliability of app icons in the system tray, especially when the taskbar is set to autohide. File Explorer has also been updated to fix an issue where windows and tabs could unexpectedly jump to Desktop or Home.
Paint and Nearby Sharing Updates
The Paint app now supports freeform rotation, allowing users to rotate shapes, text, and selections to any angle. Nearby Sharing has improved reliability for sending larger files. These updates are part of Windows 11, version 25H2, and are gradually rolling out to Insiders.
