Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 28020.1619 to the Canary Channel, offering new features and improvements for users. This update includes enhancements to cross-device functionality, security, and accessibility.
Cross-Device Functionality
The update expands the Cross-Device Resume feature, allowing users to continue activities from their Android phones on their PCs. This includes resuming Spotify playback, working in Microsoft Office apps, or continuing browsing sessions. Vivo phone users can now continue browsing from Vivo Browser on their PCs. The feature supports HONOR, OPPO, Samsung, Vivo, and Xiaomi devices, enabling users to resume online files opened in the Microsoft Copilot app on their phones. Files open in the corresponding Microsoft 365 app on PCs if installed, otherwise in the default browser.
Security and Accessibility Enhancements
Windows Hello's Enhanced Sign-in Security now supports peripheral fingerprint sensors, expanding its use beyond PCs with built-in biometric sensors. This update also introduces a new setting for Voice Typing, allowing users to configure a delay before executing voice commands to improve accuracy. Additionally, the Narrator feature now offers more control over spoken details, enhancing navigation across apps.
Language and General Updates
The Settings Agent now supports additional languages and locales, including German, Portuguese, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Hindi, Italian, and Chinese Simplified. A refreshed SCOOBE screen is being tested with some Insiders, and the Paint app has been updated with new rotation features. Microsoft reminds users that Canary Channel builds may be unstable and require a clean install of Windows 11 to leave the channel.
