Windows 11 Updates Enhance Features and Performance

20 Feb 2026

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Builds 26100.7918 and 26200.7918 (KB5077241) to the Release Preview Channel, introducing a range of new features and performance enhancements. These updates are available for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2, with a mix of gradual and normal rollouts.

New Features and Enhancements

The updates bring Emoji 16.0, adding a curated set of new emojis to the emoji panel. Windows Backup now includes first-sign-in restore for organizations, enabling the restoration of user settings and Store apps on Microsoft Entra hybrid joined devices, Cloud PCs, and multi-user environments. Quick Machine Recovery (QMR) is automatically enabled on Windows Pro devices that are not domain-joined and not enterprise-managed.

A built-in network speed test is now accessible from the taskbar, allowing users to measure Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Cellular speeds. Taskbar behavior has been improved to handle overflow more efficiently, and the account menu on Start now includes a new entry to the benefits page.

System and Performance Improvements

Sysmon functionality is now integrated into Windows 11, though it is disabled by default. Users can enable it via Settings or PowerShell. Camera settings now offer pan and tilt controls for supported cameras. Additionally, the updates improve the performance of Storage Settings dialogs and the scanning of temporary files.

Reliability improvements include enhanced login and lock screen performance, better Nearby Sharing for larger files, and improved projecting reliability with Windows+P. The printing spooler performance has been optimized for high-volume printing, and File Explorer now includes an 'Extract All' option for non-ZIP archive folders.

Display improvements reduce resume-from-sleep time on heavily loaded systems and enhance resume reliability for laptops used with docking stations while the lid is closed. Several small visual issues have also been addressed, including taskbar autohide and Windows Security credential popups.
