Microsoft Fixes Windows 10 Support Error Message Bug

07 Nov 2025

Microsoft has confirmed a bug affecting Windows 10 users, where some receive an incorrect message stating their system has reached the end of support. This issue, occurring in Windows Update Settings, affects specific editions like Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, Education, and LTSC formats with Extended Security Updates (ESU) enabled.

Resolution and Continuity

The company has deployed a server-side fix, expected to resolve within 24 to 48 hours. Despite the false alerts, systems will continue receiving updates. Microsoft assures users that new security updates, including those slated for November 2025, will be delivered to systems enrolled in ESU, Enterprise LTSC 2021, and IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021.

Versions and Supported Lifecycle

Microsoft advises users to check their Windows 10 edition details in Settings to verify update eligibility. The mainstream support for Home/Pro/Pro Education 22H2 ends on 2025-10-14, with ESU extending to 2026-10-14. Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 support continues until 2027-01-12, and IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 until 2032-01-13.

For affected users, especially those on LTSC or enrolled in ESU, no immediate action is necessary aside from waiting for the bug fix to propagate. Microsoft recommends ensuring the edition and ESU enrollment are correctly set in system settings.
