Microsoft Expands Windows 11 25H2 Rollout Amid Security Updates

19 Nov 2025

Microsoft is expanding the rollout of Windows 11 version 25H2 to replace outdated editions and enhance security. As of 2023-11-11, the company is pushing this update to more devices, completing the transition from the 23H2 version.

Support Details and Update Installations

The Home and Pro versions of Windows 11 23H2 are now unsupported and will no longer receive security updates. Users are encouraged to upgrade to version 25H2 for continued security measures. Enterprise and Education editions will remain supported until 2026-11-10. To check update availability: navigate to Settings > Windows Update and select Check for updates.

Enhancements in Version 25H2

Windows 11 25H2 provides platform improvements, focusing on security and performance rather than UI changes. Enhancements include improved vulnerability detection and AI-assisted secure coding. Microsoft has also removed outdated tools like PowerShell 2.0 and WMIC. The update, available as an enablement package, installs swiftly with just a reboot.

Future Features

User-facing features, such as a refreshed Start menu, new battery indicators, and new taskbar animations, will be released separately. AI enhancements are under testing in the Windows Insider Program's Dev and Beta Channels for a broader AI-integrated experience at a future date.
