Microsoft Tests AI Enhancements in Windows 11 Build

16 Dec 2025

Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 test build to the Canary channel, focusing on AI integration and gaming enhancements.

AI Integration and Features

The test build from the 26H1 development branch introduces an AI agent within the Settings menu. This agent helps users find settings and answers configuration questions using natural language, specifically on Copilot+ PCs. Expanded "Click to Do" context menus now provide actions for selected text or files, such as summarizing and sharing, with the help of local AI.

Gaming and Interface Updates

For gamers, a new full-screen mode offers a console-like experience, optimized for controllers and larger screens. This reflects a growing trend toward portable gaming devices and innovative PC form factors. Interface updates include broader dark mode support in File Explorer and dialog boxes, enhanced file sharing via a new Drag Tray, and consistent adjustments across the Start menu and search interface.

Additional Improvements

Other notable changes include Quick Machine Recovery improvements with a new default recovery path, a Settings page for managing paired mobile devices, updated OneDrive icons, and tweaks to advanced system settings. Microsoft emphasizes these Canary builds are experimental, with phased feature rollouts and no guarantees on public release.

Microsoft warns that switching back to a stable version requires a clean install, and some features might not be visible to all testers or included in the final release.
