Microsoft has released the 2026's first Insider build for Windows 11, labeled KB5072046. This build presents new features and updates aimed at improving user experience. Chief among these changes are enhancements related to Copilot and Narrator, as well as other system fixes.
Enhanced Accessibility Features
Among the most notable updates in this build, Windows 11 introduces AI-powered image descriptions via Narrator, accessible with Copilot on most devices outside the European Economic Area. Users can use shortcut keys, such as Narrator key + Ctrl + D, to describe focused images. Additionally, these image descriptions are processed only upon user consent.
This builds upon Microsoft's ongoing efforts to integrate AI to enhance user accessibility, suggesting a steady commitment to inclusivity. However, availability limitations in the EEA could affect usability for some users.
Managed Device Support
With this update, administrators can now uninstall the Microsoft Copilot app on managed devices through a newly available Group Policy. The RemoveMicrosoftCopilotApp policy allows precise control by administrators, particularly targeting devices where specific conditions are met, including prior installations of Microsoft 365 Copilot.
The policy applies to Enterprise, Pro, and EDU editions, indicating a focus on institutional management rather than individual users.
System Fixes and Improvements
The update also encompasses a range of bug fixes. These include resolving a warning dialog error in the start menu during shutdown and fixing a crash in explorer.exe when accessing the desktop context menu. Other fixes address graphical glitches such as a black flash in the Snipping Tool and issues with print dialog and system hang-ups within Windows Update settings.
These updates collectively suggest that Microsoft is reducing technical headwinds faced by users, potentially enhancing system stability and user satisfaction.
