Windows 11 Enhances File Sharing and Start Menu Layouts

03 Mar 2025

Microsoft has unveiled a new preview build of Windows 11 that promises to bring a more refined and intuitive experience to its users. This update is set to introduce significant enhancements particularly in file sharing and the Start menu layout.

Enhanced File Sharing Interface

The updated file sharing interface in Windows 11 is designed to streamline how users share documents and other content across different platforms. Positioned at the top of the screen when files are dragged, the new file sharing menu provides a seamless experience, allowing users to instantly share files via popular platforms like My Phone and Teams. This enhancement aims to boost productivity by reducing the time it takes to distribute important files.

Revamped Start Menu Layouts

In addition to the file sharing improvements, Microsoft's preview build introduces redesigned layouts for the Start menu. Users can now navigate the “All apps” page more efficiently with the addition of a grid view and a category view. These new layouts allow for quick access and better organization, as the layout adapts to users’ browsing and launching needs, making it easier to find and launch applications.

Although these changes are still in the preview stage, they underscore Microsoft's commitment to enhancing user experience by continuously refining the Windows 11 interface. Once these features complete their final testing phases, they will be rolled out more broadly, providing an optimized user experience tailored for productivity and ease of use.
