Microsoft reveals a new feature in Windows 11 that allows users to share audio streams over Bluetooth. The update is part of the Windows Preview Insider Build, starting with Surface devices.
Audio Sharing Details
This capability leverages Bluetooth LE Audio technology, enabling the same audio to be played through two Bluetooth LE-compatible accessories simultaneously. Usable for headphones, speakers, or hearing aids, this feature could enhance shared experiences like watching movies or listening to music.
Rollout and Compatibility
The rollout begins with supported Surface Laptop and Surface Pro models. Expansion to additional devices is expected soon. Devices must be Bluetooth Low Energy compatible, a common feature in modern headphones.
Future Enhancements
Microsoft enhances Bluetooth LE with better compression and higher sample rates, beneficial for gaming. Spatial audio support in Microsoft Teams is already in effect, improving sound quality further.
