Microsoft has launched Windows 11 version 26H1 build 28000 for Insiders on the Canary Channel, emphasizing platform changes rather than new features. The update aims to support compatibility with next-generation ARM silicon, particularly from Qualcomm.
Platform Focus
The release of Windows 11 version 26H1 is part of Microsoft's strategy to test underlying platform modifications, without introducing new features to the existing Windows 11 version 25H2. The Windows Insider team clarified that no user action is needed, as the update focuses on backend enhancements.
Compatibility with New Silicon
26H1 builds are expected to ship on new Copilot+ PCs, leveraging next-gen ARM silicon. According to Qualcomm, devices using its upcoming processors will debut in the first half of 2026. Despite its focus on new ARM architecture, the build remains installable on x86-based PCs.
Continuation of Features in 25H2
While 26H1 does not introduce new features, the Windows 11 version 25H2 continues to do so. Notable enhancements in the latest 25H2 build 26220.7070 include rearranging dashboards in the Widgets Board and adding navigation bar badges. Additionally, it improves Quick Machine Recovery and offers greater flexibility with the Smart App Control feature.
