Microsoft has acknowledged a Windows 11 bug that hides the password sign-in icon on the lock screen, affecting users who prefer traditional password entry over a PIN or biometric options.
Password Icon Issue
The problem involves updates such as KB5068861, KB5067036, and others, impacting specific builds like 26200.7171 and 26100.7019. Normally, the password icon is visible under "show sign-in options," but it's currently missing for these versions.
Suggested Workarounds
Microsoft suggests hovering over the area where the icon should be to reveal it. Clicking in that space would then open the password text field, allowing access. Additionally, randomly clicking around the area may also trigger the field.
Broader Update Issues
Alongside this bug, Windows 11 updates have also led to other issues, such as problems with Windows Recovery Environment, LocalHost service, and Task Manager performance. The company has been working on emergency updates to resolve these.
