Windows 11 Users Can Now Disable AI Actions in File Explorer

08 Dec 2025

Microsoft's latest beta version of Windows 11 introduces a significant change: users can now disable the "AI Actions" in File Explorer. This option is directed at individuals who prefer a simpler interface without AI-driven enhancements.

New Settings for User Control

The current beta allows users to disable AI Actions in File Explorer. To manage these, navigate to Settings > Apps > Actions and uncheck the AI Actions linked to several Microsoft services, including Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Paint, and Photos. This update grants users the flexibility to personalize their system interface.

Additional Beta Features

Apart from AI Actions, the Windows 11 beta introduces Quick Machine Recovery, a feature now enabled by default on some PCs. This build also includes the release of Windows MIDI Services and native support for the Model Context Protocol. These updates enhance the overall functionality and service connectivity in Windows 11.

Impact and User Experience

The option to disable AI Actions reflects Microsoft's commitment to user feedback and flexibility. By providing more control over AI integrations, users can streamline their interface based on personal preference. This builds on Windows 11's focus on user experience while accommodating advanced features for those who need them.
