Dambuster Studios announced that Dead Island 3 is targeted for release between Q1 and Q2 of 2028. This plan follows the success of Dead Island 2 Ultimate Edition, released in October 2024.
Development and Staffing
According to Dambuster's financial statements for the fiscal year ending 2025-03-31, the studio employed 194 staff members as of the report dated 2025-11-24. All developers are currently assigned to Dead Island 3.
Parts of the game are in early production: feature, character, world, and story design are underway. The Quality Assurance (QA) team will transition to Dead Island 3 after completing tasks on the Luna and Mac versions of Dead Island 2.
Strategic Release Planning
The planned release window of 2028 aims to address the long gaps between previous series entries. This timeline reflects Dambuster's commitment to reducing wait times and delivering a new installment sooner than past patterns.
