Windows 11 Store Makes Themes Easier to Access

Windows 11 users can now enjoy improved access to theme packs with the introduction of a dedicated Themes department in the Microsoft Store. This update offers easier discovery and installation of themes.

Themes Tab Features

With the new Themes tab in the Store's left-hand pane, users can explore curated packs sorted by categories such as New releases, Top themes, and Naturescapes. An Explore all themes section also provides alphabetical browsing of available options. This enhancement aims to revitalize the presence of theme packs on Windows, a concept that has evolved since Microsoft Plus! and Windows XP's Visual Styles.

Rollout and Compatibility

The rollout of the Themes department is gradual, potentially taking weeks to reach all PCs. Users can speed up access by keeping Windows and apps updated, and enabling the setting to receive the latest updates as soon as they're available. Despite limitations, current themes mainly include wallpaper slideshows and custom colors.

Future Prospects

There is potential for Store-hosted themes to expand, possibly incorporating third-party tools and new native features like live wallpapers. This development could encourage creativity and future improvements in Windows customization.
