GeForce Now Imposes New Playtime Cap: Key Details

22 Dec 2025

Starting 2026-01-01, NVIDIA's GeForce Now imposes a 100-hour monthly playtime cap for most users. This limit affects all except those with the preserved Founders Edition subscription, resulting in potential additional charges.

Playtime Restrictions and Pricing

GeForce Now, a game streaming service hosted on NVIDIA's servers, initially introduced this 100-hour limit in November 2024. Originally, it applied only to new users. However, beginning January 2026, all non-Founders Edition users will be subject to this cap. Should users exceed the limit, they will incur a charge: $2.99 per extra 15 hours for the Performance tier and $5.99 per 15 hours for the Ultimate tier.

Impact on Users

Users who engage in heavy gaming may find the 100-hour cap challenging. For example, playing six hours daily would incur an additional $27.93 monthly on the Performance tier or $55.93 on the Ultimate tier. By comparison, the cost remains competitive against purchasing a high-end gaming PC.

Tiers and Existing Benefits

GeForce Now provides a range of tiers, from free to Ultimate, each offering varying levels of graphical quality and session time. The original Founders Edition, now closed to new sign-ups, offers unlimited playtime, making its subscribers exempt from new restrictions.
