New Survival Game Once Human Launches on Steam with Positive Feedback

10 Jul 2024

Once Human, a free-to-play survival game, has just launched on Steam today. After spending an hour playing the NetEase production, it’s clear that the traditional feeling of uncertainty and discovery in the survival genre has been overshadowed by tutorial screens and mundane exposition. It seems like the price of popularity has taken its toll on the genre.

Despite the initial copper ingot crafting lessons, there is hope that Once Human will open up to more exciting gameplay. The game features some intriguing monster designs, some of which can even be customized by players. The character creation process in Once Human is surprisingly detailed, allowing players to adjust features like “mid lower-lip thickness” with extreme precision.

Customization and Character Creation

Once Human aims for a serious tone similar to Control, but with character presets that lean towards the provocative side. The game offers a wide range of customization options, allowing players to create unique and sometimes bizarre characters. From adjusting fitness levels to head size and facial features, the possibilities are endless.

Initially, Once Human did not support multiple characters, but developers quickly responded to feedback and added the feature to create new characters on different servers. Despite some disappointing aspects of the game, such as mixed Steam reviews, the character creation process remains a highlight for many players.

Gameplay and Community Response

While the gameplay experience may vary as more players join the servers, Once Human’s successful launch deserves recognition in a market where many free-to-play online games struggle post-release. Stay tuned for more in-depth analysis as we continue to explore Once Human on Steam.

How many emotions can a human feel at once?

Humans are capable of experiencing multiple emotions simultaneously, often referred to as 'emotional complexity.' There isn't a strict limit on the number of emotions one can feel at once, as emotions can be layered and interwoven. For example, it is common to feel happiness, sadness, and nostalgia all at the same time. The exact number can greatly vary depending on the individual and the situation.
