Phone Link Update Expands Android App Display in Windows 11

07 Jan 2026

Microsoft has introduced a new update for its Phone Link app on Windows 11, enabling the display of Android apps in a larger format. The update, version 1.25112.36.0, is now available through the Microsoft Store.

Android App Compatibility

The 'Expanded screen' feature allows Android apps to nearly fill the desktop screen, expanding to 90 percent of the surface. This enhancement offers better usability compared to previous smaller windows.

However, the feature requires specific compatible Android smartphones. Supported models include the Samsung S22–S24 series, Honor Magic4 Pro, OnePlus, Oppo, and select Xiaomi phones. Some apps may need restarting after enabling the feature, while others may display blurry graphics in their expanded format.

Broader Implications

This development signals an ongoing effort by Microsoft to integrate Android functionality more deeply into Windows environments. By allowing Android apps to run in near full-screen mode, Microsoft aims to provide a more cohesive user experience on Windows 11.

While this update presents a useful enhancement, there are potential limitations due to the specific phone compatibility and graphic clarity issues. Nevertheless, it represents a modest but meaningful step in improving cross-platform app usability.
