Google Drive desktop clients now benefit from real-time ransomware protection. This feature suspends file sync upon detecting ransomware activity and provides users with bulk restoration options for corrupted files. Additionally, Gmail in Workspace has implemented end-to-end encryption (E2EE), enabling secure email exchanges with external recipients.
Google Chat users gain access to thread summaries and grammar refinement tools, while Google Meet expands its live speech translation capabilities with five new languages, including German and Italian.
Video Generation and Future Outlook
The update also enhances video generation through the Veo 3.1 models, available in Google Vids, Flow, and the Gemini app, offering improved creative control and realism. These releases build upon previous summer updates, such as Chat file summaries and Video Overviews.
