Sims 4 Community Faces Upheaval After EA Buyout

28 Oct 2025

Following Electronic Arts' (EA) $55 billion acquisition, many Sims 4 creators are leaving the Creator Network, expressing unease about the implications for game diversity. This shift within the community transpired after stakeholders like the Saudi Arabian investment fund PIF and Affinity Partners became part of the deal.

Creators' Departure and Concerns

Prominent creators, including Kayla "LilSimsie" Sims and James Turner, have decided to leave the network, pointing to dissatisfaction with the recent changes. LilSimsie, who has 2.19 million subscribers, described the acquisition as a "nightmare for our community." James Turner, with 1.58 million followers, joined the exodus, citing similar concerns.

These creators, along with others like Sasha "Vixella" Staggs, who holds 1.7 million subscribers, expressed their discomfort with the direction EA is taking. Vixella stated that she couldn't see herself aligning with the Creator Network given the current circumstances surrounding EA's partnerships.

EA's Response and Future Implications

EA responded on 2023-10-24 by thanking players and respecting creators' decisions to leave. The company emphasized that individuals must make the choices they feel are right in this scenario. However, it also means that those departing will lose access to free game packs and early releases through the network.

Despite the departure of these creators, many plan to continue producing Sims content independently. They will, however, miss out on the perks of being part of the Creator Network. Concerns remain about how the recent ownership changes will affect the diversity and inclusivity of EA games.
