Copilot Introduces Text Editing via Copilot Actions

20 Dec 2025

Microsoft has introduced Copilot Actions for text editing, available to Windows Insiders, enhancing the capabilities of the Copilot app on Windows. This feature, rolled out as part of an update, allows users to rewrite, refine, and edit text during Copilot Vision sessions.

Enhanced Text Editing Features

Copilot Actions for text editing enables users to interact with text in real time. By starting a Vision session, Windows Insiders can share a document or app that needs editing and utilize Copilot to suggest improvements such as making text more formal, clearer, or simpler. Users are first presented with a preview of any suggested changes, ensuring control and precision in text handling.

This feature requires the Copilot Actions toggle to be enabled in the app's settings. Alongside text editing, users can also access tools for long-running tasks within Copilot Labs. Microsoft aims to enhance productivity, simplify complex tasks, and enable users to produce high-quality content efficiently.

Availability and Requirements

The latest Copilot app update, version 1.25121.60.0, must be installed through the Microsoft Store, and users need Windows version 26200.6899 or later. The feature is available to Windows Insiders globally, except in the EEA, as part of a gradual rollout. Microsoft’s approach indicates a focus on user feedback to refine and tailor the functionalities of Copilot, ensuring it meets the demands of real-world usage and continues to support user productivity development.
