Microsoft's Aggressive Push Towards New Outlook
Microsoft has been actively encouraging users to migrate to the new Outlook app, claiming it offers a better experience than the Mail & Calendar apps on Windows 11. The company states that the Edge-based Outlook.com usage is now comparable to the classic Outlook app.
Initially, users were given the option to toggle back to Mail & Calendar after being redirected to the new Outlook app. However, recent updates have made it challenging for users to switch back, with the app automatically redirecting users to the new Outlook on a regular basis.
Despite some users preferring the UWP Mail & Calendar apps for their performance and lack of ads, Microsoft is adamant about phasing out support for these apps by 2024. The company emphasizes the importance of security and encourages users to make the switch to the new Outlook for a more secure experience.
While Microsoft celebrates the growth of the new Outlook, some users remain skeptical about the forced migration and prefer the familiarity of the Mail & Calendar or Outlook Classic apps. What are your thoughts on this transition? Share your opinions in the comments below.
