BOINC FAQ

Several BOINC projects utilize VirtualBox to run virtual machines for simulations or other complex computations. Notable projects include LHC@home, Cosmology@Home, RNA World, and vLHCathome among others. These projects require VirtualBox because they run applications that need more isolation from the host operating system or require specific environments that are easier to manage within a virtual machine.
