Display Tuner FAQ

In Open G tuning (D-G-D-G-B-D), a C chord can be played by placing your index finger on the first fret of the B string, your middle finger on the second fret of the D string, and your ring finger on the second fret of the A string. Strum all strings except the low and high D strings.

In Drop D tuning, the lowest string is tuned down from E to D (D-A-D-G-B-E). To play in Drop D, you can use power chords more easily by barring the lowest three strings on the same fret. Regular chords can be played as normal, but remember that the lowest string is tuned down a whole step.

In DADGAD tuning (D-A-D-G-A-D), chords are played by making use of open strings and simple finger placements. For example, an A major chord can be played by placing your index finger on the second fret of the D string and your middle finger on the second fret of the G string. Experiment with fingerings to form other chords, often using just one or two fingers.

"Yesterday" by The Beatles in standard tuning (E-A-D-G-B-E) can be played using basic chords like F, Em7, A7, Dm, C, Bb, and G. The song includes fingerpicking techniques. Start with the intro: F, Em7, A7. Follow the verse: Dm, C, Bb, F, C, F, Em7, A7, Dm, G, Bb, F. Practice the chord changes and work on the fingerpicking for the best results.

To play chords in DADGAD tuning, you often use simpler finger positions due to the open string configuration. For example, a D major chord can be played by barring the G string's second fret. Experiment with variations and shapes; a G major can be played with the second fret on the A string, fourth fret on the G string.
