Patch Highlights
Initially teased back in April, Patch 7 promises to deliver significant enhancements, including:
- Official Mod Support: While it won’t include a full campaign-building toolset akin to that of Divinity: Original Sin 2, the new modding tools will simplify the creation and installation of custom classes, user interface elements, spells, and quality-of-life improvements.
- Overhauled Evil Endings: The patch will introduce revamped endings for players who choose darker paths, adding depth and complexity to the narrative experience.
These official tools are designed to minimize the disruption caused by future patches, allowing mod authors to maintain their creations more effectively. However, players should be aware that Patch 7 may temporarily affect existing mods until developers adapt to the changes.
One particularly intriguing aspect of the patch is the Dark Urge storyline. This narrative thread promises a visceral experience, with previews depicting the default albino Dragonborn Durge engaging in grim acts against companions in a haunting landscape reminiscent of dark fantasy classics like Berserk and Elden Ring. An early in-game journal entry ominously hints at the character’s fate, stating, “At night, you dream of a dead world,” setting the tone for a truly chilling journey.
Quality of Life Improvements
For those players who prefer a less sinister approach, partial patch notes and feedback from playtesters suggest that Patch 7 will also include:
- Continued quality-of-life enhancements
- Increased reactivity throughout the game
- Notable changes to side character Alfira
As a dedicated player currently navigating a new Honour mode run, I find myself both eager and cautious about the upcoming patch. Having already invested 45 hours into Act 2, I hope to hold off progressing too much further before the update arrives. Historically, Larian has not adhered to a specific release schedule for patches, so players can expect the rollout to occur in the coming days without a precise date announced.
