When it comes to strategy games, it seems like mobile platforms have tried almost everything. However, the upcoming strategy title Game of Sky is seeking to elevate the genre—quite literally—by introducing a sky island theme. So, what does it offer, and will it stand out?
Exploring the Floating Islands
First off, what’s a sky island? Well, if you’ve ever played Skyward Sword, it’s basically that. Floating islands have become a popular subject for strategy games recently, and IGG.com, the folks behind Lords Mobile, seem to be following suit with Game of Sky.
The game promises the usual bevvy of resource-grabbing and domain-expanding action, alongside the ability to tame and befriend dragons to fight by your side. (Bet you can’t guess where they got the “game of” part from.) Game of Sky also looks to include turn-based strategy battles featuring recruitable heroes, a la AFK Journey.
Stand Out or Stand Down?
Of course, IGG.com’s games are a bit of a marmite situation. Some think of them as being lower down than genre leads like Supercell, but at the very least Game of Sky seems intent on offering an innovative new theme.
Promising the ability to not only recruit dragons but also heroes, as well as modify and customize your own airship, Game of Sky could stand out from the crowd when it releases sometime around October 11th for iOS and Android.
